Course Overview

The Choices E3 Employability programme is designed for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who are working at Entry 3 and preparing for employment, greater independence and adulthood.

Course Requirements

This programme is suitable for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who are working at Entry 3. Applicants will attend an interview and assessment to ensure the programme is appropriate for their individual needs, aspirations and preparation for employment and adulthood.

What you will Learn

Through practical and engaging learning experiences, students develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for the workplace and everyday life. The programme focuses on employability, communication, teamwork, problem solving, workplace expectations and preparation for future employment.

English, maths and digital skills are embedded throughout the programme and developed through meaningful, real-life learning experiences.

Students will have the opportunity to work towards either the ASDAN Entry 3 Employability Award or RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement), depending on their individual learning needs, aspirations and agreed outcomes.

Assessment

Assessment is personalised and may include practical activities, teacher observation, portfolio evidence, student reflection, photographic evidence, target reviews, witness statements and employer or community feedback where appropriate. Students will either complete the ASDAN Entry 3 Employability Award or follow RARPA, depending on their individual learning needs and agreed outcomes.

Progression

Students may progress onto Choices Level 1 programmes, Pre-Supported Internships, Supported Internships, supported employment, volunteering, community-based learning or further education. Progression pathways are personalised around each students strengths, interests and long-term aspirations.

Career Options

This programme prepares students for supported employment, supported internships, volunteering and further education by developing workplace knowledge, employability skills and professional behaviours. The focus is on helping students achieve positive outcomes and successful transitions into adult life and employment.

Mandatory Units

Students follow an individualised programme based on the ASDAN Entry 3 Employability Award. Units are selected to develop employability knowledge, workplace skills and professional behaviours while supporting each learner’s individual strengths, aspirations and progression goals. Some learners may instead follow an individualised RARPA programme where this better meets their needs.
