TCG Students Present to Stockport Council’s Children and Families Scrutiny Committee

Students from Stockport, Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College recently had the opportunity to speak to members of the Children and Families Scrutiny Committee at Stockport council about certain topics that they feel are important to consider when looking at student wellbeing.

The scrutiny committees at local council level are extremely important in making changes to the delivery of services across Stockport, therefore its incredibly important to have an annual place where student voices can be heard by decision makers at local council level.

Through presenting in a formal arena, our students were able to improve their communication, reasoning and research skills and also enhance their personal and social skills.

Student Presentation Topics:

  • Women and Girls in Construction- Abi Dockney-Harkness
  • Young peoples Mental Health- Ruwayda Hassan
  • Covid-19 Recover (why young people should be considered) – Fatma Shami
  • Education and Disability- Beth Harper
  • LGBTQ+ Awareness- Ashley Hartle

The Trafford College Group is extremely proud to have students who aren’t afraid to speak up on topics they’re passionate about. A huge well done to those who presented to the local council members!
