The project will see the development of a new purpose-built facility providing innovative and inspiring learning spaces for our students across A Levels in areas such as sciences and humanities, as well as vocational subjects such as Sport, Creative Media, Health, Early Years, and Horticulture.
There will be state-of-the-art spaces dedicated to T Levels in high-demand sectors like Health and Education, complete with a clinical ward and a virtual nursery. As well as fit for purpose Science laboratories and industry equipment, as we continue to prepare students for industry work.
There will also be new modern and spacious facilities to support the student experience including learning resource centre, student services and dedicated social spaces.
Our new centre will also be home to specialist environments for our Choices (SEN) students, with a dedicated garden and sensory room.
The building is nature inspired in its design and will have many sustainable features such as PV panels, air source heat pumps, solar efficient glazing, and energy efficient lighting controls. The project is due for completion Summer 2025.
James Scott, Principal and CEO of The Trafford College Group, said, “Our ambition is to provide our students with an educational environment that can support and inspire them in their studies and to provide a platform for their success in the future. As a college group we are enormously proud to have the ability to invest college and government funds in two educational institutions in Stockport in such a short space of time.”
The facilities are now dated and in need of refurbishment to bring the building up to modern standards. The teaching spaces require modernisation and reconfiguration to meet current future teaching needs.
This cannot viably and practically be achieved with the ageing current buildings and therefore there is an exciting opportunity to build a new college with high quality facilities that can meet the needs of each department, greatly improving the quality of educational facilities for students.
